Sineng Electric has completed the supply of PCS MV turnkey station for the 208MW/416MWh energy storage project in Guangdong, which has now entered commercial operation. As the largest standalone grid-side energy storage plant in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, and the first of its kind in Shaoguan, the facility marks a major step in the province's ambition to build a trillion-dollar new-energy storage industry.
Situated on a 49-acre site in Shaoguan, the project is equipped with 35 sets of Sineng's 6MW central PCS MV turnkey station. The solution is engineered for large-capacity cells and features Sineng's deep-consistency control technology, enabling over 1% higher charging efficiency. To cope with South China's hot and humid climate, the units adopt a phase-change heat-dissipation design with dual-loop airflow, ensuring stable long-duration operation throughout peak-temperature months. In addition, the integrated system's zero-foundation design significantly reduces civil-works requirements and upfront construction costs — an increasingly valued advantage for large-scale storage deployments.
At full output, the plant stores up to 416MWh and delivers 298 million kWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to the yearly consumption of nearly 140,000 households. The system is expected to cut 208,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year while enhancing grid flexibility, smoothing renewable-generation variability and strengthening peak-shaving and frequency-regulation capabilities in the region.
AI-Ready Grid: Storage Supports the Greater Bay Area's Computing-Power Hub
A standout feature of the project is its integration with the region's rapidly expanding digital-infrastructure ecosystem. Operating under a "energy storage + computing power" collaborative model, the plant supports the data-center cluster — a core node of China's national integrated computing-power network and a key hub in the Greater Bay Area. By supplying reliable green electricity for high-density AI and cloud-computing loads, the project provides an important foundation for the "East-Data-West-Computing" strategy, while creating a replicable pathway for green-energy-powered AI and hyperscale data-center development.
Driving the Next Stage of China's Energy Transition
As China accelerates the build-out of a new power system dominated by renewables, energy storage is becoming an essential bridge between fluctuating green generation and the fast-growing digital economy. Sineng Electric says it will continue advancing its grid-forming PV+ESS technologies to deliver cleaner, safer and more resilient power infrastructure — empowering both the national energy transition and the next wave of AI-driven industrial growth.
